Betsson’s Martin Emanuelsson Wins GSOP Live – Riga! (LVL 44,790/€63,154)

Swede Martin Emanuelsson started the final table in the middle of the pack and really had to duck and dive to build up his chips, like all big wins, there was an element of luck involved as he was all-in for his tournament life with just T-9 against Tomi-Ville Hytti’s A-K but managed to spike a ten to keep him in the game.

Emanuelsson played fairly patiently and wasn’t afraid to mix it up a little when anyone tried to steal his big blind.  Emanuelsson comes in from a good run of form, he currently leads the Swedish Casinos leaderboard back in his home country and also with this win goes to the very top of the GSOP leaderboard, the prize of which is a free seat in the Grand Final in Seville.

Congratulations then to Betsson’s Martin Emanuesson as the very first ever winner of GSOP Live from here in Riga, Betsson itself will be hosting our next event in late November in Malta and you can qualify online on OnGame right now.

We’ll hopefully see you there! Good night!

Morten Mortensen Eliminated in 2nd Place (LVL 30,444/€42,927)

After a couple of sparring pots, Morten Mortensen opened on the button to 160,000 and Martin Emanuelsson reraised to 400,000 from the big blind. Mortensen moved all-in instantly for about 2,000,000 and Emanuelsson immediately called.

Cries of “Eight-ball!” came from the Danish friends of Mortensen as the flop came , not the worst flop ever for Emanuelsson as a seven now meant he could split the pot, the also meant any trey would also see the pot chopped up but the river was the and Emanuelsson made a winning two pair.

Mortensen finished as a worthy runner-up,  but just pipped at the post in what was ostensibly a cooler when you have just 25 big blinds. Still, second place is nothing to be too disappointed about and Mortensen takes home with him over €40,000 back to Copenhagen.

Tomi-Ville Hytti eliminated in third place (LVL 20,807/€29,338.26)

At one point it seemed Tomi-Ville Hytti was going to run away with this final table and although he played a good game he’s ultimately fallen short in third place. On his exit hand, Martin Emanuelsson made it 130,000 from the small blind and Hytti shoved all-in from the big blind for around 1,300,000 total. Emanuelsson made a quick call

The board of gave Hytti some outs, but he couldn’t get there. Players are on a short break before heads up play start.

All Quiet On The Rigan Front

It’s really slowed down here and most hands aren’t even reaching the flop. The only one of note was Morten Mortensen opening to 190,000 in the small blind against Martin Emanuelsson’s big blind. The latter (who does not like folding big blinds to people) made the call to see a flop which both checked.

Mortensen then also checked the turn and Emanuelsson took it down with a 160,000 chip bet.

Small pot showdown

Showdown’s have been pretty rare but we witnessed one just now in a pot between Tomi-Ville Hytti who raised to 130,000 from the button and big blind Martin Emanuelsson who called the bet. The board of was checked all the way before Hytti took a 135,000 stab on the river. Emanuelsson made a quick call, Hytti showed for a missed straight and flush draw, Emanuelsson showed to win the pot.
